what's in my drawers
words. collected in this little ringbound notebook i keep in the computer desk drawer.
some of my favorites:
afflatus: a divine inspiration
lubricious: lewd; also slippery or smooth
fugacious: transitory, fleeting
panglossian: excessively or naively optimistic
sinecure: an office or position that involves little work or responsibility
thigmophilic: touch-loving
sadly, many of my collected words can no longer be found in current editions of the dictionary (or the computer's spellcheck). that is why i will scour thrift store shelves for those thirty pound hard cover editions published prior to 1970. with their tissue-like pages, tiny detailed illustrations and irresistible fingertip cut-away tabs for easy alphabetized searching, they are indispensable home accessories.

i too love those old dictionaries. whenever i was a kid and i'd ask my mom what a word meant, she would tell me to look it up and i would go to one of those super heavy books.
ah, memories.

Love this! Yes where do the missing words go? Why are they left out?

thigmophilic: touch-loving.
I must be thigmophilic. Touchability is important to me.

I love this idea. I too am a collector if words, but mostly try to keep them in my head (a terrible idea). I think I will do something similar to your ring...wonderful! You made my day!
