shop updates :: vintage biography stack

stacks of vintage biographies and autobiographies (and a few novelty titles) are prepped and ready to stock the shelves of my clubhouse books shop. a few fun craft, back to school and gardening books are still available as well. check back often at the shop for fresh daily listings - or let me know (via comments or email here) if there is a specific book you don't want to miss. i am always happy to create a reserved listing for you :)

it's a great time of year to snuggle up in a cozy chair with a good book to read...

shop updates :: freddie langeler illustrations - destash

i came across these calendar pages while searching thru my plentiful collage supplies. i've had them so long i can't recall if i had a project in mind or simply saved them because i love the dutch illustrator's work so much (i do this a lot). since i can't seem to cut them up and haven't glued them on to anything in years (altho i believe they would make a lovely treasure box) or even framed them, i've decided to part with them. i have some pages from the books fairies and children of the stars  listed in my clubhouse books shop now and more to come!

and there are still seven days left to take advantage of the summer sale in the shop - don't miss it :)

good morning! here is a quick look at what's new on the shelves in my clubhouse books shop:

the illustrations in this large format gyo fujikawa alphabet book are so cute i can hardly stand it.

the passionate playgoer is a copious collection of personal essays on the theater by dorothy parker, ring lardner, ruth gordon, robert benchley, alexander woollcott, tallulah bankhead, elia kazan, tennessee williams, gypsy rose lee, ogden nash, w.c. fields, thomas wolfe, dubose heywood... and many many more!

this hardcover copy of american triptych contains three novels on life in mid century america written by pearl s. buck under the pseudonym 'john sedges'. who knew?

USA holds a trilogy of novels by john dos passos on early 20th century culture in america. i am sensing a theme...

these seven novels make an instant collection book bundle of the comforting and wholesome stories of everyday life in an english country village by miss read.

twenty four gorgeous full color prints of jessie wilcox smith's charming illustrations in one big poster book. for reference or cutting up and framing, you choose.

shop update :: gardening and creative art books

two book bundles for organic bio-dynamic garden enthusiasts and herb-lovers are listed at clubhouse books. good reads while we wait for the rain to stop and the sun to shine again.

three hardcovers from the whitman creative art book series are also in the shop. painting, paper art and print art are jam-packed with ideas and inspirations for endless hours of art projects. just the thing for our endless rainy days.

did i mention its been raining here? luckily the weather is always perfect at clubhouse books shop :)

welcome to my clubhouse

in our apartment, just ten steps from the front door, is a little 10' x 11' room with blue green walls we call my clubhouse. inside there are seven pine bookcases trimmed in carved leafy vines, two wooden desks, a chair, two windows, a closet, the mac mini, the printer, more than half of our books and all of my art supplies. and me. as i work away here i often stop to sort and stack and reorganize things. i find books i have read, books i bought for the cover or the title, or the illustration that i couldn't resist. some are now collector's items and some are still collectible. some i save and some i want to share.

this is how i came to stock the shelves and open the doors of clubhouse books. it's a quiet little spot for book-lovers. if you haven't been there yet, i invite you to drop by. the door is always open :)

am i making room for more books or opening up space for a new chapter to begin? i'm not sure yet... now i must get back to work. so many new old titles are waiting to be dusted off, researched and photographed before stocking the shelves. have a happy sunday!

shop update :: vintage books + back to school

the back to school season is on my mind so daisy chain vintage is stocking up on vintage books this week. children's picture books, chapter books, art books, craft books, song books and resource books for teachers are in the stack and headed for the bookroom in the shop! here's a peek...

shop update :: snoopy, pussycats and scandinavian cooking

i just love it when he pretends to be a vulture.
